Learning from Real Specimens: Second-Year Veterinary Students Study the Skeletal Anatomy of Diverse Animal Species

This inspiring story recognizes Ms. Supaporn Teerawatananont, a sixth-year student in the International Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Program at Akkhraratchakumari Veterinary College, Walailak University. While driving home near the Nuclear Junction in Nakhon Nayok Province, she encountered a woman of approximately 50 years of age who had been seriously injured in a road accident. The woman’s motorcycle had been struck from behind by a ten-wheel trailer truck, which then ran over both of her legs. Her legs were visibly deformed, suggesting fractures, and the bleeding would not stop.

Ms. Supaporn responded immediately, volunteering to control the bleeding from the victim’s right leg while rescue personnel attended to the left. Together, they immobilized the injured limbs with splints and safely transported the patient to hospital. Her prompt assistance earned considerable praise from people in the surrounding community and stands as an admirable example for fellow students and the wider public.
