Fifth-Year Veterinary Students Strengthen Small Animal Internal Medicine Skills through Intensive Clinical Practice
The Small Animal Clinical Practice course for fifth-year veterinary students focuses on the systematic development of skills in veterinary internal medicine by integrating theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience in real clinical settings.
Students learn the complete process of small animal patient care, beginning with history taking and comprehensive physical examination, followed by clinical assessment, formulation of differential diagnoses, and the appropriate selection of laboratory and other diagnostic tests.
Under the close supervision of veterinary faculty members, students also practice developing treatment plans, monitoring patient progress, assessing prognosis, and communicating professionally with animal owners. These activities strengthen their clinical knowledge, practical skills, professional communication, and ethical responsibility.
Through hands-on and experiential learning approaches, the course prepares students to provide effective small animal internal medicine care in accordance with professional standards and builds their confidence as future veterinarians.
