Second-year students at Akkhararatchakumari Veterinary College recently engaged in hands-on training as part of the course VET67-222 Body Structure and Function, focusing on Comparative Histology of Blood Cells.

During the session, students performed blood collection from both chickens and dogs, followed by blood smear preparation and Wright stain techniques. Using microscopes, they carefully examined the morphology of red and white blood cells across species. This practical activity allowed students to develop observational and diagnostic skills while gaining a deeper comparative understanding of hematological systems in avian and mammalian species. Such foundational knowledge plays a vital role in veterinary hematology and the accurate diagnosis of blood-related diseases. 

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Walailak University, organized a community outreach program aimed at raising awareness and providing knowledge about rabies. The program focused on educating students about the causes of the disease, symptoms in both humans and animals, as well as preventive measures to enhance their understanding and awareness of this critical public health issue. The activity took place at Kanlayanee Si Thammarat School, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.

During the event, faculty members together with veterinary students shared their expertise through lectures and practical demonstrations. These activities enabled students to gain accurate information that can be applied to proper pet care and personal protection against rabies.

This initiative not only contributes to promoting better community health but also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of Walailak University, particularly in fostering good health and well-being. Moreover, the program reflects the collaboration between the academic sector and the local community in building sustainable public health awareness.

This initiative not only helped strengthen hygienic practices and preventive behaviors but also served as a tangible example of transferring academic knowledge into educational institutions.
