On 29 January 2025, Akkhararatchakumari Veterinary College hosted the “Goodbye Senior” event to celebrate and congratulate 6th-year veterinary students who are about to graduate. The event brought together classmates, juniors, faculty members, and staff in a heartfelt gathering filled with joy and shared memories.

Prof. (Clin.) Dr. Suvichai Rojanasthien, Dean of the College, presided over the ceremony, delivering words of congratulations and encouragement to the soon-to-be graduates as they prepare to step into their professional careers.

The event featured student performances, warm wishes from professors, and touching moments of friendship among classmates making “Goodbye Senior” a truly memorable send-off for the graduating class.

Boehringer Ingelheim Shares Veterinary Drug Insights with VET-WU

On Monday, 21 April 2025, Akkhararatchakumari Veterinary College, Walailak University, welcomed representatives and academic staff from Boehringer Ingelheim (Thailand) Ltd. for a product knowledge session. The company provided updated information on their veterinary pharmaceutical products to faculty members, veterinarians, and interested participants.

The session sparked lively discussions and in-depth questions from attendees, reflecting the high level of interest and engagement from both lecturers and students. This activity emphasized the value of academic–industry collaboration in enhancing veterinary knowledge and professional development.

LECTURE ON “SECURING RESEARCH FUNDING FROM PRIVATE SECTORS” HELD AT VET-WU

Akkhararatchakumari Veterinary College, Walailak University, hosted a lecture titled “Securing Research Funding from Private Sectors” on Wednesday, 8 January 2025. The session was led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Niratthisai Rakmak, Deputy Director of Walailak University Science and Technology Park.

The event was organized by the Research Station Committee of Walailak University, aiming to enhance faculty members’ understanding of the processes and strategies involved in obtaining research grants from private organizations. It also aimed to strengthen collaboration between the veterinary college and the Science and Technology Park.

The session welcomed participants both on-site at the Equine and Bovine Surgery & Geriatric Building and online via Zoom Meeting.

SECOND-YEAR VET STUDENTS PRACTICE CANINE NEUROLOGICAL EXAMINATION

Second-year veterinary students at Akkhararatchakumari Veterinary College practiced real neurological examinations on dogs as part of their Body Structure and Function 2 course.

With guidance from Asst. Prof. Dr. Worakarn Boonha, students worked in small groups to perform the tests safely and effectively. This training helps strengthen their observation and diagnostic skills, preparing them for future clinical practice. 🐾

VETERINARY STUDENTS EXPLORE WILDLIFE BEHAVIOR AND WELFARE THROUGH FIELD TRAINING

Veterinary students from the International Veterinary Medicine Program recently participated in a field study on wildlife behavior and care, aimed at promoting animal welfare. The activity was led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Manoch Yindee, D.V.M., at the Wildlife Breeding Center and Bota Sky Tower, Walailak University.

This hands-on experience was part of the Basic Practical Skill 1 course, designed to enrich students’ learning beyond the classroom and provide real-world exposure to wildlife observation and animal management.

VETERINARY STUDENTS GAIN HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE IN ANIMAL RESTRAINT TECHNIQUES

Second-year students from Akkhararatchakumari Veterinary College recently took part in a practical training session under the Basic Practical Skill 1 course, learning how to properly and safely restrain animals across 7 different categories: companion animals, wildlife, aquatic animals, poultry, horses, large ruminants, and pigs.

With guidance from experienced faculty members specializing in each animal group, students had the opportunity to get hands-on experience with various tools and equipment used for animal restraint. The instructors provided close supervision and live demonstrations to ensure that students not only understood the theory but also developed essential handling skills through practice.

This foundational course equips students with critical practical knowledge needed for safe, effective animal care and sets the stage for more advanced clinical training in the years ahead.

On 23 June 2025, Clin. Prof. Dr. Suwichai Rojanasathien, D.V.M., Dean of Akkhararatchakumari Veterinary College, Walailak University, warmly welcomed five third-year veterinary students from École Nationale Vétérinaire de Toulouse (ENVT), France. The students arrived in Thailand to undertake a research internship at the college.

• Assoc. Prof. Dr. Watcharapong Mitsuwan

This marks the second consecutive year that ENVT students have chosen to participate in the research internship program at Akkhararatchakumari Veterinary College. This ongoing collaboration reflects strong confidence in the quality of the college’s academic staff and research outputs.

COLLEGE EXECUTIVES VISIT AZABU UNIVERSITY, JAPAN

Professor Clinical Dr. Suwichai Rojanasathien, Dean of Akkhararatchakumari Veterinary College, along with Associate Professor Dr. Sumalee Boonma, Deputy Dean, traveled to Azabu University, Japan. They received a warm welcome from the university president, executives, directors, and staff.

During the visit, the executives toured key facilities and learning centers including the Small Animal Hospital, Companion Animal Hospital, Veterinary Medicine Museum, and practical training classrooms. They also met with project leaders of the Laboratory Animal Veterinary Education Center (LAVEC).

This visit marked an important milestone for Akkhararatchakumari Veterinary College in elevating academic standards and fostering collaboration with leading international educational institutions, which will benefit the development of staff and students in the future.

AVC ADMINISTRATORS VISIT NIHON UNIVERSITY(JAPAN) TO STRENGTHEN ACADEMIC COLLABORATION

Clinical Professor Dr. Suvichai Rojanasthien, Dean of Akkhararatchakumari Veterinary College, along with Associate Professor Dr. Sumalee Boonma, Deputy Dean, visited Nihon University, Japan, where they were warmly welcomed by Professor Soichi Maruyama, former Dean of the university.

During the visit, the delegation met with the current Dean, Professor T. Seki, to discuss preparations for signing a future Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), marking a significant step toward expanding international academic collaboration.

The delegation also toured several facilities, including the Bone and Skeleton Museum, the Anatomy Laboratory (where they met second-year students), and the Food Science Laboratory (where they spoke with third-year students). In addition, they had a fruitful academic discussion with Professor H. Kabeya, Director of the Graduate School, focusing on curriculum development and academic exchange.

The visit concluded with a tour of the university’s Veterinary Medical Center, led by Professor K. Edamura, Director of the center, who introduced the clinical services and hospital operations.

This visit represents another key milestone in AVC’s ongoing efforts to enhance academic standards and foster partnerships with leading institutions around the world.

Second-year veterinary students at Akkhararatchakumari Veterinary College kicked off the new semester with excitement in the course VET67-222 Body Structure and Function 2 (BSF2) 🔍.

During the first week, students explored the bones of different animal species under the topic “Anatomy of Canine Bone and Comparative Anatomy of Bone and Integuments.” This foundational knowledge is essential for understanding animal body structures, enabling accurate diagnosis and treatment in the future.
